The Best Crypto NFT Games in 2021
I am really excited that we are starting to see crypto games coming to market. And I believe a lot more will come.
At this time, the current crypto games are pretty simple and not really immersive 3D games with lots of possibilities. I am still waiting for that impressive sandbox MMO that will be more like a metaverse to be created.
Anyways, there are already some really exciting games available that use NFT and crypto tech.
List of top crypto games:
- Axie Infinity – High price to get started. Possibly high rewards once you learn the game.
- CryptoKitties – The ‘original’ crypto game.
- Sorare – Browser-based fantasy soccer game.
- Blankos Block Party – Colorful 3D game.
- F1 DeltaTime – Browser-based racing game.
Price to get started: $240+
I wanted to give this game a try, but after installing it and messing around for a bit I learned that I needed to purchase 3 units (Axies) from the online marketplace to get started and that would set me back over $240.
That would leave me with some really bad Axies and no thought into team composition. Then I discovered a Reddit thread that where a new player describes researching the game before deciding on what units to buy. He shares that his Axie team composition cost him closer to $1,000.
For established players that have been into the game since units were selling for just over $1, the inflation in the game much be a great thing. For new players, however, the high start costs are prohibitive.
If I were to bite the bullet and spend time learning the game and playing it to the best of my abilities, I suspect it might be possible to earn some nice rewards. I donæt have the time nor the inclination to do so, so I will instead move on to the next game on this list which excites me more.
We believe in a future where work and play become one. We believe in empowering our players and giving them economic opportunities. Most of all, we have a dream that battling and collecting cute creatures can change the world. Welcome to our revolution.Axie Infinity whitepaper
Price to get started: ~$25
CryptoKitties was the first crypto game to take off. Similar to the Axie Infinity game, there is a marketplace with sky-high valuations of in-game items for CryptoKitties. But there is also a section with affordable ones to get started.
This game is all about breeding and collecting rare cats. It is a browser game.
Getting started playing CryptoKitties is easy and quick. Just click on the pink ‘Start’ button upper right of the website. You will need to connect your MetaMask account and enter your email address. Then you will get instant access.
The game starts with an opitonal 7 step tutorial.
CryptoKitties is, at its core, about the cats. It’s about the fun of creating these unique digital creatures, breeding two together and never knowing exactly how it’s going to turn out. It’s about chasing specific traits and Fancy Cats and being delighted by the happy accidents that might just create the dream Kitty you never knew you wanted.Official getting started guide

This game was a lot easier to get started with than Axie Infinity. After creating my account I got free player cards to build my team. The getting started process also gave useful information about the game and was very easy.
There is an official online marketplace where you can utilize lots of filters to find new players for your team.
You can either depost your local currency to purchase new players from the marketplace, or you can simply connect your MetaMask.
You should are also able to sell your players/cards on the marketplace. This doesn’t work with cards of ‘common’ scarcity though. All the cards I got from my free start packs were of ‘common’ scarcity.
Sorare is an online website that enables registered users to acquire, collect and exchange collectible digital card featuring professional football players and the underlying token based on blockchain technology (the “NFT”) … and allows its Users to buy, transfer, sell or exchange collectible cards, either within the Service or with third parties.Official Sorare terms and conditions

The 3D graphics of the game is pretty good and sets this game apart from the other games on this list so far. The game is filled with lots of psychedelic colors and the music of vibin’ beats.

F1 Delta Time
Price to get started: Unknown
F1 Delta Time is a racing browseer-based game.
When creating an account for this game, you need to set up a 2-factor authentication with either your phone or your email. You also need to verify that you are at least 18 years old. I hope this will not be a trend, that games require players to be 18 years of age just because it features financial transactions.
After creating my account and wanting to test out the game, I again got stuck. Apparently, I start without a car and a driver and I don’t know how to get one.
From what I could figure out, the game is still being developed and the racing functions have not yet been implemented.
In-game NFTs consist of unique tokens that can be used in gameplay: Cars, Drivers and Components. A Car token can be improved by adding or upgrading components such as engine blocks or turbochargers. Each token possesses its own set of stats that may affect the performance of the Car or Driver. These NFTs are limited; only a set number of each token will be created and made available to players.Official F1 DeltaTime FAQ
More Great Things to Come
I will definitely keep an eye out for new crypto games with NFT features. What I am really excited about are games that will be built on the new Unreal Engine 5. The graphics of that engine just looks stunning. I am hoping for some releases with that quality of graphics in maybe late 2022 or in 2023.
